About Geno's Cancer Team
With the launch of this web site we are proud to rename our team to Geno’s Cancer Team and announce our new affiliation with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. In 1993 The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and Jim Valvano. It has raised more than $60 million and awarded cancer research grants in 37 states and the District of Columbia.

Coach Auriemma is the newly elected President of the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association). In that capacity he was asked to join their fight against cancer with The V Foundation. The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, as he battled cancer. Wanting to see the battle through to victory, Valvano recruited friends and family to lead The V Foundation in his quest to eradicate the disease that ultimately claimed his life. Coach thought it was great because the money still goes to fight cancer and the fit with coaching is more natural! We are excited to continue the fight against cancer in a new way! All proceeds from the 2009-2010 season will be donated to the V Foundation.

We are excited to continue the fight against cancer in a new way! We look forward to a long and successful partnership between Geno's Cancer Team and the V Foundation.

We kick off our 2009-2010 season, with the expectation that it will be our best year yet. We look forward adding many new schools, individuals and sports to our team. Remember, you don’t need to play basketball to play on this team -- so bring your soccer, baseball or football team, your brownie/cub troop, or your 6 best friends. No donation is too small as we fight to find a cure for cancer.
Join the Team, Geno’s Cancer Team, on the Road to the Final Cure!
