Do I have to play basketball to join Geno’s Cancer Team?
No, you don’t need to play basketball to play on this team. You can be 6, 16 or 60; student, parent or coach. So gather your soccer, baseball or football team, your brownie/cub scout troop, your religious youth group or your 6 best friends. No donation is too small as we fight to find a cure for cancer.
How does the V Foundation spend my contribution?
100% of your donation goes directly the cancer research! Effective with the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2006, 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events contributed to The V Foundation will be used to fund cancer research and related programs. The Foundation embarked on a campaign to raise money for an endowment fund several years ago, and the fund has now reached a level that will allow the Foundation to cover all operating expenses for the foreseeable future with the investment income.
Who receives the money collected by The V Foundation for Cancer Research?
For the past 13 years, research projects have been conducted by some of the brightest scientists in the laboratory conducting basic cancer research. The recipients of these two-year, $100,000 grants are designated V Scholars. Our unique funding process provides the essential funds to the facility, earmarked for the individual doctor, allowing the V Scholar to decide how best to use these funds in his or her research project.

We have collected cash and don’t want to send it in the mail. What can we do?
If you're within the State of Connecticut, return your “Post Event Recap form” noting that you have cash and a member of the Geno’s Cancer Team staff will personally visit your school to pick up the proceeds. Otherwise, have a coach, parent or school official take the cash and issue a check made out to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Why is Geno’s Cancer Team raising funds for the V Foundation for Cancer Rearch and not Coaches vs. Cancer?
Coach Auriemma is the newly elected Vice President of the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association). In that capacity they have asked him to join them in their fight against cancer with the V Foundation. Coach thought it was a natural fit because the money still goes to fight cancer and would not have to juggle his limited time between two worthy causes! We are excited to continue the fight against cancer in a new way.
We still have Coaches vs Cancer wristbands and Die-Cuts. What do we do with them?
You have two choices. Continue to sell what you have and write a check to the American Cancer Society for the bands and Die-Cuts and another to The V Foundation for your other proceeds or return the unused materials to and they will be sold by a school still involved in Coaches vs Cancer.
Join the Team, Geno’s Cancer Team, on the Road to the Final Cure!
