- Newington Girls Travel Basketball teams raised over $2,000 during a "Play day" in January.
- A local Field Hockey team played a "Pink" game in honor of breast cancer awareness month AND collected donations at October sporting events. Over $1,500 raised!

- Connecticut cheerleading and dance squads will participate in this year's Quinnipiac University Cheer and Dance Challenge on Febuary 21st, 2009. Last year, their event featured over 80 teams from middle schools, high schools, colleges and all-star squads. While each team worked tirelessly to perfect their routines and came to the competition for the chance to win, the day was about much more than taking home a first-place trophy. Cheerleaders and dancers from around the state raised over $17,000 to make wishes come true for Connecticut children with life-threatening medical conditions. This year's competition will benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
- Over $1,000 was raised last year from "Spare Change" drives.
- A big "Thank you!" to Geno's Fast Break Restaurant at Mohegan Sun and Shady Glen Restaurant in Manchester for proudly displaying or "loose change" boxes, and to all of you who shared your coins and bills with us dining there!
