Central Elementary School in Simsbury wanted to help and found unique ways to do so. They managed to raise $1,800 to help fund critical research.
Although most of the money raised by Geno's Cancer Team comes through events surrounding basketball games, there have been some exceptions. Central Elementary School, in Simsbury, CT, doesn’t have a basketball program but still wanted to help. They did so by holding two school wide fund-raising events.
The first was a Read-a-thon where students gathered pledges from parents, friends and relatives. Every one of the 400-plus students in the school participated and together they raised $1,600.
The second event was more low-key. The selling of die-cut basketballs with the minimum donation being $1. Central School raised more than $200 in a two week period.
