Location:Quaker Hill School, Waterford CT
Coordinators: Jayne and Sarah Darras
Eleven girls and four mothers donated their ponytails Wednesday evening for a Ponytail Drive at the Quaker Hill School in Waterford. Two others were donated in advance. The event was the idea of 7-year-old Jayne Darras, who last year noticed several classmates with long hair and asked her mother, Sarah, to help recruit volunteers to cut their hair and donate the snipped ponytails to organizations like Locks of Love. Locks is a nonprofit group that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada suffering long-term medical hair loss from any condition.
